I hope to improve USG’s communication and interaction with the student body, organizations, and different departments, such as through the implementation of a better communication system between students and USG. Other changes I hope to see is the increased functionality of safety resources like the night ride, as well as better dining hall food.”

Dhanushri Devi Kannan

“Hey! My name is Dhanushri Devi Kannan, and I am a freshman majoring in Computer Science. I am also an international student from South India. Party Slate: SpeakUp

—-

Mahanoor Murtaza

“My name is Mahanoor Murtaza, and I am aiming to become a member of the USG House of Representatives. An initiative that I am interested in pursuing through USG is providing scholarships for middle-class students. Oftentimes, scholarships do not apply to middle-class students because they require financial aid. I would like to work on this initiative to make more scholarships accessible to students based on merit and not only financial need.”

—-

Manasvi Thumu

” Hi! I’m Manasvi Thumu! I’m running as a representative for next year because I want to continue the work, I’ve been doing on this campus in terms of creating events to connect the community together through tabling, giveaways, and also increasing transparency through townhalls. With a focus on collaboration and inclusivity, I aspire to create policies that make our campus more enjoyable and supportive for all.”

Michaella Olegario

“Because UIC consists primarily of commuters, students need a place to wait in between classes. While there’s a commuter lounge, I even struggle to find seating on campus. This can be frustrating for students who have gaps in their schedules or need a quiet place to study. It would be beneficial for UIC to consider adding more seating, especially for those who rely on the campus for their daily activities.”

Party Slate: Impact UIC

—-

Moe Jumah

“As a candidate for the House of Representatives at UIC, I am committed to enhancing campus diversity, promoting student welfare through mental health initiatives, and fostering a supportive environment for academic success. Let’s work together to build a thriving and inclusive campus community.”

Party Slate: Impact UIC

—-

Sajal Shukla

“Hi, I’m Sajal and I’m a computer science major! I’m running so that I can be an advocate for my female peers at UIC, working on issues such as the availability of quality menstrual products on campus as well as hosting events to spark community for those pursuing majors in which they are underrepresented. I am running because I want to help improve student engagement on campus through promotion and speaking to the students directly. I also am running to improve student success and safety on campus.”

Party Slate: Impact UIC

—-

Spencer Basta

“I am running for Representative on the platform of safety. I believe that nothing else matters if a student does not feel safe. Campus is home for many students and without the constant feeling of belonging and safety, school is just not possible. To achieve a safer campus, I plan on cooperating with the campus police department and talking to various campus groups to find what makes them feel unsafe.”

Party Slate: Impact UIC
