Internship Opportunities
On-campus internships
GLAS internships are for current UIC undergraduate students. As a prerequisite, students enroll in GLAS 105: Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in Higher Education (a 1-credit seminar offered each spring.) Students are offered a range of placement opportunities for an on-campus internship after completing the course. See past internship sites below.
Student interns receive academic credit for completing their internship responsibilities with an on-campus program for 4 hours (1 credit) or 8 hours (2 credits) a week while enrolled in a GLAS internship practicum. Please contact Mark Martell (mmartell@uic.edu) if interested.

Off-campus internships
GLAS internships are for current UIC undergraduate students. GLAS 250: Critical Issues in Community Engagement (3-credit course) is highly recommended but not required as a prerequisite. Students can pursue an internship placement with an off-campus organization. See past internship sites below.
Academic credit is given through the GLAS internship practicum while working at the internship. In the practicum, students also complete one credit of coursework related to the community issues their organization addresses. Therefore, 4 hours per week at an internship will count as 2 credits and 8 hours per week at an internship will count as 3 credits. Or, if a student has completed GLAS 250, a student can receive 1 credit for 4 hours per week, 2 credits for 8 hours per week, and 3 credits for 12 hours per week at an internship.
