Travel & Geography Registration
for Clery Act Compliance
Why do we collect this information?
The Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act (the Clery Act) requires higher education institutions to publicly disclose crime statistics for certain crimes that occur on an institution's "Clery geography." Clery geography aims to capture an institution's student footprint and includes certain locations where UIC arranges for students participate in its programs or activities. Clery geography also includes any off-campus or non-UIC locations that are owned or temporarily controlled by UIC student organizations, including lodging locations used for overnight, student org. trips. The information collected through this travel and geography registration will enable the university to track its Clery geography so it can accurately disclose annual crime statistics in the
UIC Annual Security and Fire Safety Report. The forms below should be used to register overnight student travel and off-campus geography to identify potential qualifying Clery geography.
Travel Registration: Register a university-sponsored*, overnight student trip (including UIC student organization trips)
Geography Registration: Register an off-campus or non-UIC property controlled by UIC for student activities (including UIC student org. activities)
- Use this form to register off-campus or non-UIC facilities or properties that are used for student activities and are leased, rented, or otherwise controlled by UIC (or a UIC student org.) through a written agreement.
- E.g., a medical clinic rented by UIC where graduate students participate in clinical training; an off-campus lab reserved by UIC for weekly student classes; a third-party office building leased by a UIC department and used by students.
