Calm and confident presenting

- Effective communication is critical to your success in the professional world as well as your personal life. Yet, many of us get very nervous when we're speaking in front of others. In fact, research suggests upwards of 85% of us feel nervous in high-stakes communication situations. And quite frankly, I think the other 15% are lying. There are things that we can do to help manage that anxiety, so we can be more confident when we communicate. My name is Matt Abrahams. I've started a consulting practice, I teach at Stanford University's Graduate School of Business, and I've written a book called "Speaking Up Without Freaking Out." And in all of these endeavors, I spend time helping people to feel better about their anxiety that they have around speaking. In my LinkedIn Learning course we'll talk about specific actions you can take to manage both the symptoms and sources of your anxiety. We'll also discuss how you can stop doing some behaviors that actually make your anxiety worse. Fundamentally, I believe all of us have stories to tell, input to give, and ideas to contribute. But we need to learn to manage our anxiety so we can contribute confidently to the conversations in our lives.
