Taking place the first Monday of each month, this regular service opportunity allows students to give back while they are on campus. This enables students who don't have the time or resources to serve in other ways to still contribute to community organizations. Projects are usually hands-on and involve making something.
This month, we will be recycling t-shirts into dog chew toys that will be donated to PAWS Chicago and other local animal shelters. The program will take place in the Commuter Student Resource Center, and while registration in advance is preferred to allow for a quicker check-in process, drop ins are also welcome. You can join us anytime between 11am and 1pm, for the full two hours or for a shorter length of time if that's what works for you. Please note, this project will continue as long as supplies last, so joining earlier is often better.
All participants will be required to show their UIC Daily Pass (go.uic.edu/dailypass) upon check in, and confirm that they are in compliance with the UIC COVID-19 policies. Masks need to be worn at all times during the project, and no eating or drinking will be allowed in the space. Gloves will be available for those who would prefer to use them, and shared supplies will be wiped down between use.
